Tralee is where Kerry goes to get things done. The hospital is on the Killarney road, the county council’s offices are in the town, the courthouse is on Ashe Street, and the MTU campuses bring students from every parish in the county. The shopping splits between the old centre, the Mall, Castle Street, Bridge Street and the wide Georgian run of Denny Street down to the Town Park, and Manor West out on the edge, where the retail park has the parking. For one week in August the Rose of Tralee fills every bed in the town; for the other fifty-one it is the county town doing its ordinary work.
That ordinary work is where website design in Tralee earns its keep. The businesses here are mostly serving people who have travelled in: a family from Castleisland at a dental appointment, a farmer from Ardfert at the solicitor, a student from Dingle looking for a barber. We are based in Dublin and work with Tralee businesses at a distance. We start on a video call, you send photos and details on WhatsApp, and we build from those. There is no Tralee office, and the service does not depend on one.
Clients who come from across the county
A practice or a service business in Tralee is competing for a search made in Listowel, Killorglin or Castlegregory as much as one made in the town. “Dentist Tralee”, “accountant Tralee”, “physio Tralee”, typed by someone who has already decided to make the drive and is now choosing which door. The site that answers that search well says where exactly you are, where to park, what the first appointment involves and what it costs where that can be said. The Google Business Profile needs the same facts, and the V92 Eircode written the same way on both.
Students, staff and the September turnover
MTU’s two campuses and the hospital bring a population that changes every year and arrives knowing nobody. Those people search instead of asking, and they search with the town name. Barbers, gyms, takeaways, phone repair, grinds, letting agents and GPs near the campuses are found by exactly this group. A page that is correct in late August, with real photos and hours, is in front of them when they arrive.
The Mall or Manor West
Independent shops in the town centre have watched trade move out to the retail park, and the thing that brings a customer back up the Mall is knowing before they leave the house that you have what they want, that you are open, and that there is somewhere to park. That is a website job and a Google job, not a window-display job. A boutique, a jeweller, a bookshop or a hardware shop with a current page, prices, and a line about where to park gives the customer the reason they need. We have written about the signs a website is costing you customers, and the first three are about exactly this.
Trades with a county-wide van
Tralee’s electricians, plumbers, heating engineers, tilers and mechanics work the whole of north and mid Kerry. The site should name the towns: Ardfert, Abbeydorney, Castleisland, Killorglin, Dingle, Listowel, whichever are true. The Google service area should match. A page that says Tralee and nothing else loses the job in Castlemaine to the next name.
