Dublin, in person

Website design in Skerries

Skerries is a seaside town that also commutes. Strand Street runs along the harbour with the pubs, restaurants and cafes facing the boats; the South Strand runs along the bay on the far side of Red Island; and Red Island itself has the car park, the playground and the sea swimmers who are in the water every month of the year. Inland, around the train station, is a town of families who go to Dublin for work and come home to a place that most of the city only sees in July. Website design in Skerries has to serve the regular who walks past your door every morning and the visitor who found you from the car park, and it has to survive the quiet months. We are based in Dublin and we come up on the train to meet you.

Two calendars

The summer calendar is obvious. Sunny weekends bring day trippers up from Dublin for the walk around the head, a swim, an ice cream and a meal, and they choose by phone: “lunch Skerries”, “coffee near Skerries harbour”, “fish restaurant Skerries”. The map result with correct hours, a few photos and a good rating wins the table. Sailing, rowing and the summer festivals add weekends where the whole front is full.

The other calendar is the one that pays the rent in February. Residents searching “physio Skerries”, “yoga Skerries”, “birthday cake Skerries” and “plumber near me” from the train; parents booking clubs and classes; people ordering bread for the weekend. Those searches are steadier and more deliberate, and the business that takes bookings and orders online, with prices shown, gets them without a phone call.

What we put on a Skerries page

Hours that are actually true for the season, which you change yourself from your phone through a private edit page. The menu or the price list as text. A booking or order button for the cafes, restaurants, bakeries and studios. For B&Bs and holiday homes, direct booking with a deposit so you are not paying commission on every repeat guest, and plain words about the walk to the harbour and the train. For the clubs, membership, fixtures and a contact that reaches a real person.

Behind the page, structured data that says Skerries, K34, and the right business type, and a Google Business Profile that we set up and verify. Reviews matter a great deal in a town where people compare the harbour’s restaurants from a bench, and on Complete a text or email after each visit with a direct review link does the asking politely. We have written up how to get more Google reviews without breaking Google’s rules or Irish law.

Deposits and the seasonal trade

Festival weekends, Christmas parties and summer Saturdays are when no-shows hurt most. Taking a small deposit when a table or a room is booked is normal now and customers expect it, provided the terms are fair and shown before they pay. How to take deposits online in Ireland sets out what Irish consumer law expects. On Complete the deposit is built into the booking and the money goes to your own account.

Running on Instagram

Skerries has bakers, cake makers, yoga and pilates teachers, swim coaches and photographers who have only ever had an Instagram account. It suits the look of the place. It does not show up when a visitor at the harbour searches on Google, it does not take a booking, and the account can be closed on you without appeal. A page on your own .ie domain sits underneath the Instagram and carries the facts.

Price, with no contract

Essentials is €499 to set up and €50 a month. Complete is €1,499 and €100 a month and includes the bookings, deposits, review growth and monthly Google work that the harbour businesses will use most. Both exclude VAT and carry no contract. The pricing page has the full comparison, and the bed and breakfasts page shows what we build for rooms.

Questions from Skerries

Do you travel up to Skerries?

Yes. We are in Dublin, the train gets us there, and we are happy to meet at the cafe, the restaurant or the house. Ten minutes with your hours, prices and photos is enough to start.

Can I let rooms directly rather than only through the booking platforms?

Yes. On Complete the site takes bookings and card payments, including deposits, with the money going to your account. You can keep the platforms for new guests and give repeat guests and people who found you on Google a direct route.

I only open fully from May to September. Does a monthly plan make sense?

There is no contract, so you can cancel with 30 days' notice at any time. Most seasonal businesses keep the site running through winter because the hours, the gift vouchers and the bookings for next year keep coming in, but that is your call, not ours.

Do you do Rush, Lusk and Balbriggan as well?

Yes. Each has its own page, linked below. For a Skerries business whose customers come from the whole north county, the site says so plainly in a service area section.
