A washing machine stops with a full drum of wet clothes in it, or the oven dies on the twenty-third of December, and the search is “washing machine repair Dublin” or “oven repair near me”, typed in a bad mood. The person wants four answers in the first ten seconds: do you fix our make, do you come to our part of the city, what does the callout cost, and can you come today or tomorrow. Websites for appliance repair in Dublin that put those four answers on the first screen get the call. The ones that open with a paragraph about being family run do not.
Make, machine, area, price, today
Those four answers go in the first screen, with the phone number as a button. The detail sits below for the people who scroll.
Makes: list every brand you work on, because people search by brand as often as by appliance. Machines: washing machines, dryers, washer dryers, dishwashers, ovens, hobs, cooker hoods, fridges, freezers, American style fridge freezers, and whether you touch integrated appliances and range cookers. Area: the postcodes and towns, written out. Price: your callout or diagnostic charge, whether it comes off the repair, and how you handle it when the machine is not worth fixing. Today: your hours, whether you do Saturdays, and how same-day works.
The callout fee question
It is the question people most want answered and the one most sites hide. Customers have been stung by an engineer who charged to say the machine was dead, and they want your rule before they ring. Whatever your policy is, state it plainly: a fixed diagnostic charge, waived or deducted if they go ahead, parts and labour quoted before any work starts. That filters out the people who were going to argue and reassures everyone else. It also makes you the honest one next to the competitor who says “ring for a price”.
A photo of the model plate before you leave the van
Half of appliance repair is knowing which machine it is before you arrive. The enquiry form asks for the appliance, the make, a photo of the model sticker inside the door or on the frame, what it is doing or not doing, and the address. That lands in your email and WhatsApp, so you can check whether the part is in the van, price it, and ring back with a time. Fewer wasted visits, and the customer feels dealt with inside ten minutes.
Christmas ovens and January dryers
The oven calls come in the week before Christmas and you will be turning them away. Tumble dryers and washing machines break in the wet months when they run every day. Fridges and freezers go in the first hot week of the summer. The edit page lets you put “same day slots available this week” or “no new callouts until the 27th” at the top of the site from your phone, and change your hours over the bank holidays without ringing anyone.
Landlords and letting agents are a different customer. They want an invoice, a quick turnaround between tenants, and someone who will deal with the tenant directly. A short page for them, saying you do that and how, brings repeat work from one source.
Being the engineer Google shows
Most of this trade starts in the map results on a phone. Your Google Business Profile is set up as a service area business, with the home address hidden if you work from home, the right appliance categories, your areas and your hours, and it is kept up to date. What local SEO is explains why the categories and the areas matter, and how to get your business on Google Maps covers the pin, the duplicates and the verification. Reviews in this trade are blunt in both directions, and how to reply to bad Google reviews is worth reading before the first one lands.
