The watch repair customer is either in a hurry or in no hurry at all. The one in a hurry has a dead battery and a wedding on Saturday, and searches “watch battery replacement near me” for somewhere that does it while they wait. The one in no hurry has their father’s old automatic in a drawer and has meant to get it serviced for three years; they search “watch repair Dublin” and read everything. Websites for watch repairs in Dublin have to serve both, and most serve neither: a phone number, a stock photo of a movement, and no idea what anything costs or how long it takes.
We build the page, run it, and keep the Google listing right so the hurried one finds you. You keep the loupe in.
Two customers, two speeds
The hurried customer needs your hours, the words “while you wait”, the price of a battery and whether you reseal and test the case afterwards. Give them that at the top of the page and a call button beside it, and they are on their way to you.
The patient customer needs more, and they will read it. What a full service involves (strip, clean, lubricate, new gaskets, regulate, time it), what it costs as a range, how long it takes in weeks rather than days, whether parts are genuine or compatible and when you use which, what warranty you give on the work, and whether you have handled their kind of watch before. Your training and your years at the bench belong here, in your own words, with a photo of the bench itself.
The jobs, in a table
Most of what you do falls into a short list, and a table on the page answers “can you do it and how long” for all of it at once.
| Job | While you wait or leave it | What the page should say |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | While you wait | Fixed price, whether you reseal and pressure test |
| Strap, bracelet and link removal | While you wait | Fixed price, straps stocked |
| Crystal or glass | Leave it | From-price, mineral or sapphire |
| Crown, stem or pusher | Leave it | From-price, parts may need ordering |
| Quartz movement replacement | Leave it | From-price, turnaround |
| Full mechanical service | Weeks | Range, what is included, warranty |
| Vintage restoration | Quote first | Photo and inspection before any figure |
| Water resistance test | Either | Price, what the result means |
Your prices, your turnaround, your wording. When they change, the edit page changes them.
The quote with a photo
“How much to fix my watch?” with nothing else is the call that wastes the most time, because the honest answer is always “it depends what it is”. The quote form asks for the make, the model if they know it, what is wrong, when it was last serviced and a photo sent on WhatsApp, and it arrives in your email and on WhatsApp together. You answer with a range and “bring it in” when you have a quiet minute. On Complete, the chat box answers “do you service automatics” and “how long is a service” from your own details and passes the rest to you.
Christmas, January and the summer holidays
December is batteries and straps on watches about to be given. January is the watches that were given: bracelets to size, straps to swap, a chain that needs shortening. July and August bring the holiday watches, swum in or showered in, with condensation under the glass, which is a job that wants doing quickly before the movement corrodes. A line at the top of the page for each season (“got a watch for Christmas? bracelets sized while you wait”) is yours to change.
Postal repairs from the rest of the country
Not every town has a watchmaker, and a good one takes watches by post from every county. A postal page covers how to pack it, where to send it, how it is insured while in your care, that you quote before any work starts, how the customer pays and how the watch comes back. It also means your own shop can be anywhere; the first chat is by phone or video call if you are outside Dublin. When someone in Donegal asks ChatGPT where to get a vintage watch serviced, the plain facts on this page are what it reads, and we explain how that works in how to show up in ChatGPT answers.
What we need from the bench
Your job list with prices or ranges and turnaround, your training and experience in your words, the makes you specialise in or “all makes”, your postal terms, your hours, and photos of the bench, the loupe, a movement open and you at work. Ten minutes on the phone or in the shop.
Cost
Essentials is enough for most watch repairers: €499 to set up and €50 a month, with the Google listing set up as described in getting a business onto Google Maps. Complete at €1,499 and €100 a month adds the chat box, card payments for postal work and the review text. Both are on the pricing page, and the jewellers page covers the counter many watch repairers share.
